Three people and a cat are safe after fire in Aberdeen

Three people and a cat are safe after a two alarm fire in Aberdeen yesterday morning.

The Aberdeen Fire Department tells KXRO that at 4:30am on Tuesday morning they responded to a structure fire in the 200 block of E Curtis St. in Aberdeen with assistance from the Hoquiam Fire Department.

The first arriving engine reported heavy fire and smoke coming from an attached garage at the rear of a two story residence and the fire was also found extending into the first floor of the home.

A 2nd Alarm was immediately requested.

The fire department says three residents were able to evacuate the home before they arrived.

Two were treated and transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital for minor injuries from the fire and the third was uninjured.

According to the fire department a cat was found inside the smoke filled residence and was successfully resuscitated by fire personnel and reunited with its owner.

The fire damage is estimated at $43,500 for the attached garage and $52,000 for the main residence.

Fire personnel were on scene for about four hours.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
