2008 Ocean Shores Events l Kite Challenge - June 14. Sponsored by "Team Cutting Edge Kites" - 2005 & 2006 World Champions. Free kite flying lessons, stunt competitions, fun flies, displays and more. l Flag Day Parade & Dance - June 14 A chance to show our patriotic spirit. The parade features more than 50 entries and a Grand Marshall. End the day with dancing and raffle drawings from 7PM to 11PM at the Convention Center. One of the only Flag Day parades in Western Washington. l Five Star Sand & Sawdust - June 27-29. Come to the beach to watch Master, Intermediate, and Novice Sand Sculpting teams compete for over $5,000.00 in cash prizes. While master woodcarvers from all over the world come to compete in this annual competition. Auctions held daily. Families & kids welcome to enter the sand sculpting competition. Free sand-sculpting lessons on Friday l 4th of July Picnic & Fire O'er the Water - July 3-4. The business community of Ocean Shores is sponsoring the 3rd annual Ocean Shores Independence Day Picnic on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at North Bay Park. Picnic Hours are from 10 to 4. Bring a blanket and your picnic basket or take advantage of the many food vendors that will be on hand. l Big Weekend Triathlon & Footfest - July 12-13. The Big Weekend events are scheduled for July 12, 2008 from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The triathlon events include: Swimming in Duck Lake. Biking on the city streets of Ocean Shores peninsula. l Sun & Surf Run - July 25-27. Over 2,000 motorcycles at the Convention Center. Enjoy bonfire, fireworks, motorcycle parades, stunt riders, and vendors. l Arts & Crafts Festival - September 5-7. 40th annual event includes over 120 indoor and outdoor booths featuring thousands of handcrafted items by gifted artists and craftspeople. l Paddle the Shores - September 27-28. Paddle activities on the lakes and canals of Ocean Shores. A race, Poker Paddle, seminars, boat try-outs, boating gear and a picnic on Sunday. l Whale of a Quilt Show - October 3-5. Sea-Gals Quilters show offers vendors, handmade quilts, demonstrations, and quilted items. The show is judged and prizes awarded. l Dixieland Jazz Festival - November 7-9. United States and Canadian jazz bands offer over 100 hours of live jazz at several venues throughout Ocean Shores. l Winter Fanta-Sea Craft Show - November 28-30. Over 70 arts and crafts booths feature thousands of unique handmade items just in time for the holidays! l North Beach Singers Christmas Cantata - December 12-13. The North Beach Singers present Yuletide favorites to bring in the holiday season. Admission is free. |
